Selling of the rights for anime and manga based movies

At Cannes Nippon Television Network, Nikkatsu and Fortissimo Films are trying to do distribution deals for their upcoming project.
Nikkatsu promotes the last project of Takashi Miike: Yatterman, the adaptation from Tatsunoko's anime, of 20m$. The release will be in spring 2009 in Japan and the distributors are Nikkatsu and Shochiku.
An other project is One Million Yen Girl directed by Yuki Tanada and starring Yu Aoi and Mirai Moriyama based on a manga

Fortissimo, instead, is promoting a movie based on the manga "Dance Subaru!" of Soda Masahito. The story is about a girl who want to do ballet. The director is Chi-Ngai Lee, in the cast Meisa Kuroki, Sano Miku and Momoi Kaori. It will be released in early 2009.

 Nippon is promoting the upcoming first chapter of the trilogy based on 20th century boys manga of Naoki Urasawa. The first film will premiere on August 30, the second at the fall and the third one on summer of 2009. Directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi.

Clooney stares at goats

George Clooney will topline "Men Who Stare at Goats". The director of the project is Grant Heslov, the script is done by Brit Peter Straughan.
The movie is an adaptation of Jon Ronson's book, a writer and a documentary film maker.

The book tells the story about U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a unit who use supernatural powers. The title refers to the ability to kill goats by staring at them.
The movie is under production of Winchester, BBC Films and Mandate Pictures.
